Sensory Perception

The course will be delivered over 3 days, 22nd to 24th April 2023 by Jo Graham, Bob Wenting and Ajay Bhardwaj with additional input from Caroline Dewar and additional experts.

The depth that the course goes into is considerable, you will learn the processes that take place within the barley, through all the stages of production to how the wood interacts with the spirit to produce whisky. We cover both Malt and Grain Distilling, and we also have a module on Sensory Perception and how to identify the different aromas, created in partnership with the Aroma Academy.

We will be visiting Loch Lomond Distillery and to a commercial maltster and we will have a Tasting Meal at the Scotch Malt Whisky Society in Glasgow*.

*Visits may be changed at short notice due to third party production demands

We will also have an optional visit to a world famous whisky bar. All of this is included in the “early bird” cost of the course which is £900**.

Delegates will need a basic knowledge of whisky production, however course handouts, will be provided.

The course is, of course, accredited and delegates will receive certification following successful completion of the exam.
